The Sails of Legend are postponed to summer 2021

Sail Training International which organize The Tall Ships Races decided to postpone this international tall ships event to summer 2021.

The Dunkirk agglomeration will start this big maritime festival from the 12th to the 15th of August 2021.

Organised by the Sail Training International since 1956, The Tall Ships Races exist to promote international friendship and sail traning for the younsters. 

This 2020 edition should have started from Lisbon, Portugal then stoped two times in Spain in Cadiz then in A Coruña before sailing up to the North Sea. 2000 sailors and the most beautiful ships of the world were expected.

For several months, the Dunkirk agglomeration was working on this event, organizing tall ships’ visits, sea trips, thematic villages, concerts and fireworks around the docks.

After long talks with all their partners, including the Dunkirk Urban Community, Sail Training International decided to postpone the event because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it would be the best way to provide a secure event for the sailors and the public.

Taking place after the Tall Ships Race 2021 in the Baltic Sea, this 2020 edition will have some modifications. Dunkirk will be the starting city of this great event from August 12 to August 2021 before the ships leave to A Coruna, Lisbon and Cadiz.
